Things to think on:

1.)  Are you looking for an indoor or outdoor dog?
2.)  Do you have a yard or area that is fenced?
3.)  How much time do you have to give to your
      puppy?
4.)  Do you have children?  Small children?
5.)  What personality are you looking for?
The lover?  The go-getter?  A little of both?
6.)  Do you have other animals all ready
established in the pecking order of your pack?
(YOU are either the leader of the pack or you
are led; it is up to you to decide who has the
      authority in your pack.)
7.) Can you afford the up keep of the dog you
      want?
8.) Which sex do you want your pup to be and are
you interested in breeding your dog?  Have you
thought of getting your dog spayed or neutered?
9.) Do you plan on getting more than one puppy?
10.) Do you have adequate room for the breed of
      dog you are looking for?
11.) Do you have a good vet?
12.) Do you have a dog groomer that knows how to
groom Cocker Spaniels or can you do it yourself?
13.) Will you be moving any time soon, and if so,
how will your new puppy fit in to that plan?
14.) Do you have a safe place to board your dog if
      needed?
15.) Is your work schedule going to change soon
and how will it affect your dogs routine?
16.) Have you thought about reading books on the
breed you are choosing so that you know what
to expect and look out for?

Asking yourself these questions and thinking about the answers can save you and your dog from getting into trouble!  Owning a pet is a big responsibility and should be thought out completely before bringing your new love home.
